Her Story
Soweto born Lala Tuku (knee: Monamodi) is a seasoned professional in the creative arts, communication, and marketing industry. Her passion for the arts dates over two decades. Tuku holds two bachelor degrees in arts and communication and a stakeholder management certificate. Tuku has extensive experience in the South African Film and Television industry and has seamlessly moved from in front of the camera to behind the scenes. From research, funding, content development to broadcasting.
Tuku has an intimate understanding of the local Film and Television Industry and strong business acumen.
‘Our stories are our currency and the world is looking as we become the culture curators” - Tuku.
She is passionate about the growth of the film and television Industry in South Africa and equally wants to see women particularly black women take up space in rooms previously locked to them.
Tuku is a successful entrepreneur and passionate philanthropist.
One of Tuku’s favourite roles is that of being a mother to her two teenage children Thando and Litha, who fondly call her -Bestie.
