The Premier Africa Rising International Film Festival was launched in 2018 as a pre-event to the Global Citizen and Mandela 100 Festival and was founded on the following pillars:

 

● Development and Transformation

● Accessibility and Inclusivity

● The Preservation of culture and memory

● Promoting the African Voice and encouraging African Unity through Film

● Utilizing technology to reach global standards

 

Beyond the scope of the pillars we identified, was also a commitment, an intentional one in recognising the gaps within our industry. We created a platform that not only focused on film, but centered the youth, women, the queer community, people living with disabilities and industry transformation in its agenda.

 

Representing all those who fall between the cracks or underrepresented ensuring that that their voices and stories are amplified and elevated. We crafted opportunities that ensure that everyone can participate in the festival, through programs like: ARIFF SWIFT Hours, The Film Child program, Digital Hub, the Masterclasses, Panel Discussions and The Live Film masterclass and Network/Market Sessions, to encourage the export of authentic African content that is diverse and inclusive.
